Catalonia sees record 5,000 infections in two days
Coronavirus cases set highest weekly rise with still one day to go
Catalonia has seen record coronavirus figures for two days in a row, setting a two-day high of 5,000 reported cases between Friday and Saturday.
The previous daily record for new coronavirus cases came only a week ago, on October 3, with 2,426 cases diagnosed by PCR tests and other methods. On Friday, there were 2,529 new cases; on Saturday, 2,426.
From September 28 to October 4, Catalonia reported 9,160 infections, the highest weekly rise since the second wave of the pandemic started last summer. This week, with still one day to go, the number of cases has already reached 9,204.
