Catalonia is the EU destination with the fifth most tourist bookings on online platforms
Territory records more than 6.4 million overnight stays in the second quarter of 2024, up 16% year-on-year
Catalonia is the fifth region in Europe with more tourist reservations through online platforms.
According to data published by Eurostat, the territory accumulated over 6.4 million overnight stays during the second quarter of the year, up 16% year-on-year.
The only regions with more reservations in online platforms than Catalonia are Andalusia, with almost 11 million, Adriatic Croatia, with 8 million, France's Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and the Paris region, with 7.5 and 7.1 million, respectively.
Six of the top 20 regions are in Spain. In addition to Catalonia and Andalusia, the list includes the Canary Islands, Valencia, Madrid and the Balearic Islands.
The report also shows that Spain is the second most popular destination in the EU, surpassed only by France.
During the third quarter of 2024, Spain registered over 67 million bookings, up 20% year-on-year.
The growth tax is slightly above the EU average. In total, all EU countries received 366 million bookings on platforms such as Airbnb or Booking during the third quarter.
