Catalan rapper Morad enters prison to serve 6-month sentence for traffic offense
25-year-old artist voluntarily entered Brians 2 penitentiary center on Monday evening
Catalan rapper Morad has entered prison to serve a 6-month sentence for a traffic offense, prison sources told the Catalan News Agency (ACN). The artist voluntarily entered the Brians 2 prison near Barcelona on Monday evening.
The 25-year-old has had several run-ins with the police and justice system for traffic offenses. He has been arrested several times for failing to respond to court summonses for traffic offenses and for driving without a license.
In a separate case, Morad accepted a two-year suspended prison sentence in February for the violent incidents that took place during a video shoot in 2021 in the Hospitalet de Llobregat, next to Barcelona.
Morad was facing a six-year prison sentence for incitement of public disorder and aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument, but the singer’s lawyer and the prosecutor reached an agreement for a lower sentence in exchange for giving up the right to appeal and paying for the costs caused to the six police cars that suffered damage during the incident, amounting to €2,400.
The rapper avoided jail time and instead agreed to pay a fine of six euros a day for the duration of his two-year sentence.
