Bruce Springsteen fans start queueing ahead of Friday concert in Barcelona
Music lovers organize roll call with daily check-in times to keep spot instead of camping outside Olympic Stadium
Fans of American singer Bruce Springsteen are already queueing ahead of his concert on Friday in Barcelona. Music lovers have organized a roll call for those wishing to be among the first to enter the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, with fans of the American rock star having to check in three times a day to keep their spot.
Around 40 concertgoers have already subscribed to the list as of Monday afternoon. The operation started on Thursday, more than a week before the first of two concerts takes place in the Catalan capital.
"For the moment, everything is quite calm," Magela Ronda, one of those supervising the roll call, told Catalan News. She has the 10th spot.
"Right now, there are 37 of us, and we expect the list to grow on Tuesday and Wednesday," she added.
Before the weekend the list was originally placed at the front of the venue, but it was later moved to a secondary door next to the Campanar de la Pau bell tower.
No need for camping
Instead of camping outside the Olympic venue for days, the list run by fans makes sure that "everyone is at their spot, and no one is playing games," Ronda said.
"This is something that happens every time Bruce Springsteen comes to play," she told Catalan News.
"We have everyone listed with the number they have written on their hand, and we start a roll call. If you are present, you can continue in the queue, if not, you are crossed off the list," Ronda said.
Despite Ronda being part of the roll call for Friday's concert, she "like the vast majority of people, has a ticket for both gigs," she said.
While many will be willing to camp outside the Olympic Stadium for a chance to see Bruce Springsteen up close, Magela Ronda believes there "is no need," as once someone checks in at the roll call, they can continue to do whatever they want, such as "going to the beach."
'The Boss' will perform two shows marking the start of his European tour, on Friday and Sunday, in front of 110,000 people after tickets sold out in a matter of hours.
