Body of a man and two children found dead in Barcelona apartment
Police don't rule out any hypothesis, including domestic violence
The bodies of a man and his two children, both minors, were found on Monday afternoon in a flat in the Horta-Guinardó district of Barcelona.
At the moment, police have not ruled out any hypothesis, including that of parent-on-child violence in the context of domestic abuse.
According to Barcelona newspaper La Vanguardia, the children's mother had alerted the police since she had heard no word from her ex-husband, who had to return the children to her after the Christmas holidays.
The newspaper reports that the two minors were 7 and 10 years old and they did not attend school on Monday, the day that classes resumed after the Christmas break.
Upon arriving at the scene, the Barcelona Fire Department were activated, and they entered the apartment through the window and found that inside there was an odor similar to that of carbon monoxide.
Arrangements have been made to secure the property from the danger of a concentration of gas.
The Catalan High Court has informed the local Barcelona court handling the case that there was no history of domestic violence between the man and the children's mother, with whom he did not live.
