Barcelona’s annual get-together of internationals is taking place on Saturday September 28 in the city's Maritime Museum.

This meeting for the international community is a chance to "show what the city can offer from the public and the private side to the international community that is coming to live and work in the city," Mario Robert, director of international promotion of the city council, told Catalan News on Thursday, during the presentation of the event that will take place in Autumn.

Barcelona International Community Day is an annual meeting for international residents in the Catalan capital and businesses and organizations that offer products, services and initiatives aimed at international talent.

This year's edition will offer more than 60 activities, 90 speakers, and nearly 80 exhibiting companies and entities on topics of interest to the community, such as Catalan News, as we will be back to the event.

The activity in September aims to "convey the idea that Barcelona is a friendly city that helps you when you come to live here," Robert mentioned.

Robert also explained the importance of "welcoming new talent from abroad in order for the city to grow in strategic sectors."

Free tickets for the International Community Day in September are free and are available online in the organizer's website.

The presentation of this year's event took place in Barcelona's World Trade Center, located in the city's harbor.

During the event, deputy mayor Jordi Valls talked about the relevance of the international community in Barcelona and how it has evolved: "20 years ago, there was 1% of foreigners in Barcelona, today that number is of 25%. With events like this we want to integrate all this people so they can be a part of the city."

The event also included a boat-tour around Barcelona's harbor to present the changes and projects ahead of the America's Cup, which will take place from August 22 to late October.

The tour was given by Las Golondrinas, a passenger boat company that will offer visitors tours to see the team's operation centers the days before the regattas take place. And during the competition other tours will be available to see the event from a prime position.
