Barcelona council to host income tax webinar for foreign residents
Online event will focus on personal income tax (IRPF), wealth tax, the Beckham Act and the 720 form
Personal income tax returns this year must be filed between April 6 and June 30. In order to help foreign residents deal with the paperwork, Barcelona City Council has organized a webinar on the subject for April 27.
The online event, entitled 'All you need to know about personal income tax (IRPF) and wealth tax returns' will feature Lusiné Minasyán, a tax lawyer from Avalanding.
It aims to address common questions such as what exactly are income tax returns, who is required to file them, and what kind of tax deductions and allowances are there?
As it is focused on foreign residents in particular, it will also address how to deal with income and assets in other countries.
Special emphasis will be put on "practical issues such as personal income tax (IRPF), wealth tax, the Beckham Act and the 720 form."
You can sign up for the online session, which takes place at 5.30pm on April 27, via the council website.
Tax obligations and paperwork
In general, people who live more than 183 days of the year in Spain are obliged to declare to the Spanish tax authorities.
That includes so-called digital nomads who may be working remotely for a company based elsewhere.
Foreign nationals in Catalonia cite bureaucracy as one of their biggest complaints about living here, as we discovered in this podcast in November 2021.
As well as taxes, obtaining and/or replacing NIE residency cards can cause major headaches for newcomers. Listen to the podcast below to learn more.
