Barcelona City Council fines Barça for Camp Nou work outside permitted hours
Football club receives two penalty notices for up to €300 each
Barcelona City Council has issued FC Barcelona with two fines for non-compliance with the set hours for renovation work at the Spotify Camp Nou.
On Thursday last week, between midnight and 1am, an inspection was carried out at the site and unauthorized activity was observed. Work outside of normal hours was also detected in August.
For this reason, local police, the Guàrdia Urbana, issued two penalty notices of up to €300 each, as reported by the 'El Periódico' newspaper and confirmed by the Catalan News Agency (ACN).
The city council is working with FC Barcelona to resolve these breaches, and in the coming days residents will be called to a meeting where all the necessary clarifications and explanations will be made.
Works got fully underway this summer to remodel Barça's iconic stadium.
This will be a years-long construction job, meaning the blaugrana must play their home games elsewhere this season and for a period of the season after that. For 2023/24, they will play their games at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc, most recently the site of many gigs from some of the biggest pop stars in the world, such as Beyoncé and Coldplay.
