Badalona becomes Catalonia’s third largest city with over 225,000 inhabitants
Hospitalet de Llobregat is the second largest city, while Barcelona remains the largest with over 1.6 million
For the first time since 2017, Badalona becomes Catalonia’s third largest city with 225,957 inhabitants as of January 1, 2023, according to data of the municipal register of residents from the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE).
Barcelona is still the largest Catalan city with 1,660,122 inhabitants, while neighboring Hospitalet de Llobregat remains in second place with 274,455 inhabitants.
The smallest Catalan towns are Gisclareny with 27 inhabitants, followed by Sant Jaume de Frontanyà with 29 inhabitants, and are both located in northern Catalonia.
