Arnold Schwarzenegger impressed by ‘efficient’ and ‘green’ Barcelona metro system
The actor hailed the public transport system as something the rest of the world should use
The actor and ex-governor of California in the United States, Arnold Schwarzenegger, visited the Barcelona metro line L10 this Saturday, and praised the Barcelona urban transport system.
"It's exactly the model that the rest of the world should use," he told the media as he crossed the stretch from the Zona Franca to the Foc station, in the neighborhood of Marina del Prat Vermell, to the south of Barcelona city. Schwarzenegger said that "mass public transport is the only way" and proudly declared the Spanish state "so advanced".
"I hope the United States learns something," he added, since the subway is a mechanism to fight "against global warming and pollution." However, he said that although Barcelona has this "very efficient" and "green" service, he also acknowledged that sometimes the trains run late.
The Terminator star is in Barcelona for the Arnold Classic Europe bodybuilding event, taking place this weekend at the Fira de Hospitalet de Llobregat. Barcelona’s public transport body (TMB) and the organization of the Arnold Classic organized this metro system visit as an act of mutual promotion, according to sources from the transport company.
