Supposed terrorist believed to have fought in Syria
An alleged Islamic terrorist has been arrested in Mataró, a town some 35 kilometers north of Barcelona.
The individual is believed to have fought for Islamic State (IS) in Syria.
The Spanish police have arrested the man, 33, who they qualify as a "dangerous foreign terrorist fighter."
He is Moroccan and has been detained after facing an international arrest warrant issued by Morocco.
The Catalan capital, and Cambrils, southern Catalonia, were stricken by islamic terrorism on August 17, 2017. The incident, including a truck running over pedestrians in the iconic La Rambla boulevard, killed 15 people.
The cell was based in Ripoll, close to the Pyrenees, and its mastermind was believed to be an imam in this town.
