All Lleida ski resorts open for December bank holiday
Tourist occupancy will exceed 80% in areas near the slopes
All the ski resorts in the Pyrenees Mountains of the Lleida region will open for the December bank holiday.
Spain will celebrate two holidays in the first week of December: Constitution Day on December 6 and the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, providing a perfect window for taking a five-day holiday.
Juli Alegre, the Marketing Director of the Regional Tourist Board, said that they are expecting more snow thanks to the rain forecast, as well as the production of artificial snow.
He has also pointed out that the hotel occupancy forecast will be between 75 and 80%, although it could be higher in establishments nearest the slopes.
The decision to open for the December bank holiday is particularly important for ski resorts, as the revenue generated during these holidays represents 7% of the total winter season.
Thanks to good weather conditions coinciding with the holiday, both local businesses and winter sports enthusiasts are expecting a lively start to the ski season in the Lleida Pyrenees.
