€8.8M plans to boost Catalan language courses, with 30,000 more places, approved
Government agrees with Esquerra measures to grow CPNL internally and through supervised organizations

The government will approve the plan agreed with Esquerra Republicana (ERC) to boost Catalan language courses available in the territory.
Financed with a budget of €8.8 million, an additional 30,000 places in classes will be offered.
The courses will be especially aimed at newcomers, professionals in education, commerce, health, and population sectors who want to improve their language skills.
The objectives of the shock plan increasing the offering of classes to meet growing social demands, increasing the number of teachers, improving registration processes, increasing learning paths with new course formats and schedules, while also increasing the frequency of courses.
The capacity of the Consortium for Linguistic Normalization (CPNL), the body comprised of public and private entities that manages the Catalan language courses, will also be grown, a key factor in the execution of the plan.
The CPNL will expand the offer of its own and coordinated courses by 30,000 places, reaching a total capacity of up to 140,000 places per year in 2026.
In addition, a line of subsidies for municipalities will be launched with the aim of decentralizing the teaching of Catalan and making it more accessible to all citizens.
Expanding the offer of C2 courses
At the same time, the agreement also provides for the expansion of the annual offer of C2 level Catalan courses through an agreement with unions and entities.
The aim is to have more flexible learning possibilities that progressively increases the frequency of courses.
This is the beginning of a stage of broader collaboration between the new ministry and the entities and unions.
The CPNL will expand its offer of C2 level courses throughout the country, but will also be responsible for the coordination and certification of the courses taught by the unions and entities.
