30-meter fishing boat sinks off coast in north Catalonia

No injuries reported but Fire and Maritime Rescue working to contain 200m fuel leak

A 30-meter long fishing boat sank off the coast of Roses, in north Catalonia, without causing any injuries on Thursday.

The vessel sank to a depth of 17 meters in front of Almadrava beach in Roses, according to the Fire Department.

There is a fuel leak 200 meters from the port, and the Fire Department and Maritime Rescue units are working to contain the fuel leak.

Authorities received the warning at 9.38 am. 

The emergency services have enforced a perimeter barrier of 75 meters surrounding the site of the accident.

There are four fire brigades and an underwater GRAE boat at the site.
