29.1ºC: Barcelona hits all-time high temperature in April since at least 1914
Lleida area and Ebre river delta region surpass 30ºC in unseasonable hot weather
Barcelona's iconic Fabra observatory hit 29.1ºC this Sunday, the all-time value for April in this weather station, which has gathered data since 1914.
The observatory is located at the foot of the Tibidabo hill, ata round 400 meters above sea level.
The record surpassed the previous all-time high by 1.6ºC, registered on April 12, 2023, last year, with 27.5ºC. This value had surpassed an 80 year-old record, set on April 21, 1945, at 27.2ºC.
The unseasonable temperature was not only felt in the capital, but across the country, with a sudden rise in thermometers and an unusual number of beach-goers along the coast.
Over 32ºC near the Ebre river delta
In the Ebre river delta region, temperatures have been the highest in Catalonia, with values of 32.3ºC in Aldover or 31.5ºC in Vinebre.
In the Lleida area, Seròs also registered 31.5ºC, slightly more than in the Siurana reservoir (31.3ºC) and Torroja del Priorat (31ºC).
