152 people killed in traffic accidents on Catalan roads in 2023
Nearly half of all fatalities are motorcyclists, pedestrians or bicyclists

Traffic accidents on Catalan roads resulted in 152 deaths in 2023, according to figures published by the Catalan Interior Ministry on the first day of the year.
The figures show a reduction of five fatalities compared to 2022 and a 13% reduction compared to 2019, the benchmark year for meeting accident reduction targets.
Vulnerable road users, namely motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists, account for almost half of the fatalities (46.3%), with 53 motorcyclists, 12 pedestrians and 4 cyclists losing their lives in 2023.
The AP-7 was again the most deadly road, with 15 fatalities.
