The pro-Spanish unity civic group Societat Civil Catalana (SCC) has called a demonstration in Barcelona on Sunday, October 8.

Under the slogan 'Not in my name,' demonstrators will protest against a potential amnesty for pro-independence figures and against self-determination for Catalonia.

Talk of a potential amnesty has intensified in recent weeks as the balance of Spanish politics is in a delicate position.

The topic was also touched upon by most politicians during Monday's Catalan National Day celebrations.

The president of the entity, Elda Mata, explained that they want to "give voice to the citizens of Catalonia and the rest of Spain" who do not want to see Catalonia become independent.

The protest will begin at noon on October 8 but it has not yet been specified where it will start.

SCC hopes the gathering will be a "unitary and transversal" demonstration without the role of politicians. The organization say they are working on a "powerful" list of personalities to participate.
