Three arrested in southern Spain over shooting of former Catalan MEP
Court opens investigation into attempted murder of a terrorist nature
Spain's National Police have arrested three people for the attempted murder of former Catalan MEP Alejo Vidal-Quadras.
The retired politician was shot in the face in Madrid in early November but survived the shooting.
Police sources say one of the arrests was made in Malaga and the other two in the province of Granada.
This case is currently in the hands of the National Court, which opened proceedings to investigate the events that it believes could constitute a crime of attempted murder of a terrorist nature.
Vidal-Quadras is a former president of the Catalan People's Party before he left to become a founding member of the far-right Vox party.
