Spanish vice president denies police brutality
Actions were “proportional” for a referendum that was “not celebrated,” according to Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría

The vice president of Spain, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, denied today that Spanish riot police acted with disproportionate force or violence in a sweeping anti-referendum operation.
Meanwhile, graphic images and videos of police brutality by Spanish law enforcement towards citizens – and even other law enforcement of Catalonia – have come to light. The current count of those injured by the Spanish police today in their attempts to stop the October 1 vote has risen to 465.
