Spanish president calls extraordinary cabinet meeting to respond to Puigdemont
Mariano Rajoy will discuss his next steps with the leaders of other Spanish political parties to find "maximum consensus"
The Spanish president, Mariano Rajoy, has called an extraordinary cabinet meeting for Wednesday at 9am to discuss his government's response to the situation in Catalonia. The meeting will have to offer an answer to the Catalan president Carles Puigdemont's decision to suspend the declaration of independence. Rajoy is meeting leaders of other political parties in order to find a "maximum consensus" in regards to the next steps, vice-president Soraya Saénz de Santamaría said. So far, Madrid has not disclosed what it plans to do.
