Spanish Congress to debate proposed amnesty law December 12
The law could be approved in the lower house by the end of the year or early 2024
The Spanish Congress will hold a debate on the proposed amnesty law on Tuesday, December 12, parliamentary sources have told the Catalan News Agency.
The law will be included in the plenary session's agenda that will be approved at next week's Congress bureau meeting.
On December 12, lawmakers will debate the amnesty proposal and vote on whether they pass it through an emergency route.
It's expected that both of these motions will pass, taking the amnesty law through the emergency processes with the 178 votes the Socialists, Sumar, Catalan pro-independence parties ERC and Junts, Basque parties Bildu and PNB and the Galician National Bloc. At the same time, the law will likely receive 172 votes against it from the People's Party, Vox, UPN, and CC.
