The Spanish president Pedro Sánchez pledge that Catalonia will “never” be independent if his socialist government renews mandate. Ahead of April general elections, Sánchez assured on Sunday that Catalan secession “will not happen” under his rule.

“Coexistence always, independence never”, said.

Sánchez accused the “extremists” independentists of ruling “against” Catalans and of “fuelling” the conflict.

Critic with the right

The socialist president also criticized right-wing parties of “lying about” his contacts with the Catalan government to solve the crisis. In this sense, he claimed that his party defends “dialog within legality”.
