Prosecution calls for pro-independence MEP Ponsatí to testify before Supreme Court
Judge Pablo Llarena urged to summon former exiled politician again after she previously rejected to turn up to hearing
Prosecutors have called on Supreme Court judge Pablo Llarena to summon pro-independence MEP Clara Ponsatí again to testify in court.
After returning to Barcelona for the first time in five years on March 28, Ponsatí was arrested after doing a press conference in the center of the Catalan capital for not voluntarily appearing before a judge upon arrival.
She returned despite there being an open warrant for her arrest for her role in the October 2017 independence referendum deemed illegal by Spain.
She was released a few hours later and informed that Judge Llarena had called on her to attend a hearing on April 24 at 11 am to notify her of her charges formally, but she failed to appear.
The Junts MEP is only charged with disobedience, a non-jailable offense, thus the court released her.
