Pro-independence website shut down after a series of cyberattacks
More than a thousand university professors and researchers had signed a manifesto in support of a ‘yes’ vote in the October 1 referendum

The website where more than a thousand university professors and researchers had signed a manifesto asking for a “yes” vote in the Catalan independence referendum was temporarily shut down on Monday following a series of cyberattacks. According to an error message displayed on the site, new endorsements have been temporarily suspended due to a “massive attack of false registrations”.
The list of signatories comprises university professionals — such as professors, researchers, managers and technicians — mainly working in Catalonia, but also in universities around the world.
