Government pledges €110m for 1,788 new homes in Barcelona
Barcelona City and Council and Catalan executive agree to extend the L4 metro line to La Sagrera
The Catalan government has pledged to provide €110 million to build 1,788 homes in Barcelona in the coming years.
On the one hand, it has committed to providing €88 million so that Incasol (the Catalan Land Institute) can build 637 homes on eleven plots of land provided by Barcelona City Council.
On the other hand, it has also committed to co-financing €22 million for the construction of 1,151 affordable homes by IMHAB (Municipal Housing Institute of Barcelona) in the period 2025-2027.
In addition, the government has also announced that it will buy the four properties owned by Hospital Clínic that remained unsold after a recent auction.
Both the Catalan government and Barcelona City Council have also recognized the need to regulate seasonal rentals and ensure the elimination of tourist apartments in the Catalan capital by 2028.
In addition, the two authorities have agreed to go ahead with the extension of the L4 of metro line from La Pau to La Sagrera.
These commitments were reached by the government and the city council after a meeting of the Mixed Commission between the two institutions, which met on Friday.
