The Catalan parliament will recover its relationship with the National Assembly of Québec, a legislative body of the Canadian province.

Parliament speaker Josep Rull met with the president of the National Assembly, Nathalie Roy, during a three-day visit to the territory to revive the relationship between both institutions.

The chambers will share knowledge in several fields, especially climate change, water management, and policies regarding the use of language.

The last time both chambers met was in 2009. During the trip, Rull highlighted the "importance that two parliaments of two territories that share a strong nationalist feeling can work together to tackle common challenges such as defending national identity."

He said reviving the relationship is crucial "due to global context when it is required to form global alliances between stateless nations."

Roy embraced the importance of reviving the collaboration between both chambers and considered that the working sessions would be very enriching, as the Catalan parliament shared in a statement from Quebec.
