Catalan Government dismisses delegates in USA and Southeast Europe
Changes part of 'normal process of adaptation'
The Catalan government will dismiss the delegates in the United States and Southeast Europe.
According to sources from the EU and international affairs ministry, these "renewals" of the two senior delegates are part of the "normal process of adaptation within the teams".
At the start of his mandate, the EU and international affairs minister Jaume Duch stated that the government delegations abroad should "act apart from ideologies, with loyalty and without occupying territory that does not correspond."
Isidre Sala was named delegate in the United States in 2019, replacing Victòria Alsina, who then became the Catalan foreign affairs minister. Sala will stay in the USA until December 31, and a new delegate will be selected in January 2025, coinciding with Trump's return to the White House.
Eric Hauck was named delegate of the south-eastern European region in 2018, after being destined to Croatia in 2017. His destitution will be effective in 15 days.
Nevertheless, Jaume Duch reinforced that "most" of the delegates from the former government will continue.
