Barcelona will host UNESCO's forum against racism and discrimination
Event is to take place between December 9 and 11, with 1,000 guests, including leaders, activists, and experts
Barcelona will be the host city of the UNESCO Forum against Racism and Discrimination between December 9 and 11.
The event will take place at the International Barcelona Convention Center (CCIB) in the Fòrum area and was announced during a trip of mayor Jaume Collboni to Paris. He was accompanied by Miquel Iceta, Spain's tourism minister and Spanish ambassador to UNESCO.
A statement shared by the city council reads that around 1,000 guests will be invited, including politicians, activists, and worldwide experts on racism and discrimination. The goal is to "unite forces and set up effective strategies to fight racism and discrimination among societies."
The event, a UNESCO initiative, has been held every year since 2020. The first edition occurred in Paris, followed by Mexico and São Paulo. This last edition in Brazil focused on setting racial equality and justice as the main agendas for development.
UNESCO also chose Barcelona to host the third Moniacult in 2025, the organization’s major global conference on cultural policies and sustainable development.
