The Catalan government announced the creation of a new interdisciplinary climate change working group with members of social, economic, and environmental organizations on Tuesday.

The working group is tasked with putting forth policy proposals as well as analyzing and assessing government strategy to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change and on carbon budgets as required by Catalonia's climate change law.

This new group will also be expected to draw up proposals that will be presented before the Interdepartmental Climate Change Committee.

It will be formed by an interdisciplinary and gender-equal group of 79 people from various sectors, including local administrations, industry, energy companies, environmental groups, unions, education, or the media, and will be presided over by the climate action minister.
