The Pope’s visit schedule
Saturday
21:00. Arrival at the Barcelona-El Prat Airport. He will be met by the Catalan President, José Montilla
21:45. He will arrive at the Episcopal Palace, the residence of the Archbishop of Barcelona, in a black Mercedes. He will have dinner and sleep in this medieval palace located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter.
Sunday
09:00. He will leave the Episcopal palace in the Popemobile and head towards the Sagrada Família temple. He will take the following streets: Avinguda Catedral, Via Laietana, Pau Claris, Diputació, and Marina.
09:30. Once at the Sagrada Família, the motorcade will surround the temple taking the following streets: Provença, Cerdenya and Mallorca.
09:30. The Pope is will be received by the King and Queen of Spain at the Sagrada Família. They will meet in a room in the temple’s museum.
10:00. The religious ceremony begins.
12:00. Angelus prayer at the Nativity Façade of the Temple. 12:45. Benedict XVI heads towards the Episcopal Palace in the Popemobile.
13:00. Arrival at the Episcopal Palace and lunch with the cardinals and bishops present in the ceremony.
17:15. The Pope will arrive at the children’s centre Nen Déu, in the Guinardó neighbourhood. He will go there in a black Mercedes.
18:00. He will leave the Nen Déu centre and go to the airport.
18:30. The Pope will meet with the Spanish Prime Minister. Then he will speak in a goodbye ceremony, together with the King of Spain. The ceremony will take place in the Iberia new hangar.
19:15. The Pope’s plane takes off from Barcelona.
