Spanish Guardia Civil police officers continued to take the stand in Spain’s Supreme Court on Monday, to give their testimony in the Catalan independence trial.

Summoned as witnesses by prosecutors, the courtroom will hear from two police officers who were in charge of the raids of the Catalan government's finance ministry on September 20, 2017.

The police operation to halt preparations for the October 1 independence referendum, deemed illegal, prompted thousands of people to protest in front of the building —a demonstration that subsequently served as the foundation for the charges of sedition and rebellion against pro-independence leaders.
