The former Spanish police leadership in Catalonia continued their testimonies in the independence trial on Thursday morning.

Ángel Gozalo, who commanded the Guardia Civil police during the October 1, 2017 referendum crackdown, started to face the court in the late morning on day 13 of the Catalan Trial.

Testifying directly before him was Sebastián Trapote, head of Spain's National Police force on the same day.

Catalan Police to speak for first time

Two high-ranking Catalan police officials have also been summoned to speak in court Thursday.

This will be the first time that representatives of the Catalan police speak after the criticisms of how the force handled the referendum by Spain's former political and police officials.
