The power outage that Monday noon hit Spain has led to a sudden increase in sales of analogue radios, candles, and solar-powered batteries.

This is how Yeyxin, in charge of a dime store in the Pyrenean town of Sort, has lived the situation of the outage.

In less than an hour since the power outage took place, all radios had been sold out, he explains to the Catalan News Agency.

Along with the power outage comes another problem: paying for the items, as many clients who are used to paying with a card didn’t carry cash with them.

Another old-school device, which the shop has had to dust off as a result of the situation, is a calculator when paying.

Many of the clients have created an improvised emergency kit due to the uncertainty of how long the power outage will last.

Other popular items in the shop are candles and lanterns.

As far as analogue radios go, they have primarily been bought by older people or young people who have bought them for their grandparents, who had been left cut off without knowing what had happened.
