La Pobla de Segur (CNA) .- The travel agency Pirineu Emoció that is based in La Pobla de Segur (Pallars Jussà County) created a series of cultural packages to bring people from Madrid, Galicia and the Balearic Islands to the Pyrenees. The head of the agency Núria Martin said it wants to show the rest of Spain how they can experience the wealth of the Pyrenees in one single weekend. Martin said that action-packed weekends will be offered at affordable prices. The travel agency plans to benefit from the airport of Alguaire, in Lleida. With the creation of Pyrenair that brings flights from Madrid and Vigo, Nuria Martin feels that numerous people could be attracted to the region, not just skiers, but rather holiday makers who are not familiar with the heritage of the Pyrenees.

Martin even wants to bring tourists from the Canary Islands to the region. Packages offer flights, transport, accommodation, traditional food as well as cultural tours and museum tickets. The aim is that people can get to know the Pyrenees in just one weekend.

The first package has been advertised and has already had some demand. Flights are with Pyrenair and operate from late January to mid March. Passengers from Palma de Mallorca can also come with the airline Vueling.

There are endless possibilities to explore the Pyrenees in just one weekend like the train through the lakes, the Romanesque Vall de Boí and  the Vall d'Aran. But not only heritage and landscape play a role in these packages, but also gastronomy. Tourists will taste all the typical foods of this region.
