Tom Holland: 'Shooting in Barcelona was a dream come true'
Actor in Catalan capital to promote Uncharted, out in cinemas on Friday
British actor Tom Holland was in Barcelona on Monday to promote his new film, Uncharted, in which he plays treasure hunter Nathan Drake.
Holland, who shot several scenes for the film in the Catalan capital, told the Catalan News Agency (ACN) that "shooting in Barcelona was a dream come true."
"It's such a beautiful city with such amazing history and for a story that is about exploration and finding uncovered history, it's a perfect city to tell that story."
Uncharted, directed by Ruben Fleischer, is an action and adventure film based on the PlayStation video game series of the same name.
Among the locations in Barcelona where filming took place are Montjuïc, the Gothic quarter, Plaça Reial square, the 15th-century church Santa Maria del Pi and Gaudí's masterwork, the Sagrada Família.
"I love this city"
Montjuïc's magic fountain and the National Art Museum of Catalonia provided the backdrop for Monday's photocall in Barcelona.
"I love this city. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I've really enjoyed almost growing up here as my home away from home," the Spiderman star said.
Holland, who plays Peter Parker in the Marvel blockbuster, added that his latest movie was about traveling the globe and the spirit of adventure.
"The biggest theme of the film is adventure and exploration. We want to transport audiences to places of the world they've only read about in books."
And, in a move sure to go down well with locals, Holland included a message of support for FC Barcelona on his Instagram post from Montjuïc: "My home away from home. Força Barça #uncharted".
