The Champions Burger festival returns to Barcelona after last year's 220,000 visitors
Food event lets visitors decide 'Best Burger in Spain'
The best burgers in Spain will compete at the Fira de Barcelona exhibition hall during the 5th edition of The Champions Burger from May 15 to 26.
The event brings together the best burger food trucks, letting visitors taste different types of gourmet burgers without having to travel to the restaurants located throughout the territory.
From caramalized peanuts to chips as toppings, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the food festival.
Last year, the gastronomical festivals welcomed more than 220,000 visitors.
"We hope to have more visitors than last year," sources from the organization say.
The festival is touring 16 Spanish cities, double the amount of last year's edition, from February until November, such as Sevilla, Valencia, and San Sebastian, where the public will keep selecting the nominees for the 'Best Burger in Spain' award.
The public's choice
For 12 days, visitors have the opportunity to choose their top two burgers from more than 25 restaurants, who will offer a variety of original and innovative proposals.
The two most voted by the public will qualify for the final in autumn, where they will compete for the title of 'Best Burger in Spain.'
The evaluations made by the public will be based on aspects such as the bread, meat and combination of ingredients.
This year, the 'Best Burger in Europe' will also be chosen, cementing the international character of the championship, whose final was held for the first time in Barcelona last year.
The ten best restaurants from the Spanish finale will compete against other European countries to win the title in a ceremony still not scheduled.
Besides the burgers there will be food trucks offering fried chicken, doughnuts and cheesecakes.
Thereare also some vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and lactose free options.
'Hall of Burger'
At the Fira de Barcelona there will also be a 'Hall of Burger', where the restaurants La Muralla and Jenkin's, winners of the 'Best Burger in Spain' and 'Best Burger in Europe' titles in 2023 respectively, will offer food.
The public will not be able to vote for them as "they will be pardoned" and are directly allowed to participate in the European final.
Youtuber Joe Burger's restaurant 'Mofelete' will also be offering food in the 'Hall of Burger', alongside Eneko Fernández, winner of Spain's MasterChef 11 culinary TV show, and Youtuber Sergio Enciso's 'La Cocina del Pirata.'
