Record number of visits at Catalan camp sites in May
Costa Brava stands as prefered destination for most tourists
Catalan camp sites received a record-breaking number of visits during the month of May this year, with a total of 363,646 tourists, an 18.9% increase since 2019.
In fact, Catalonia was the preferred destination for tourists in all of Spain, with an emphasis on the Costa Brava zone.
Nevertheless, other types of accommodation, such as apartments, rural houses, and hostels, were close to reaching pre-pandemic levels of visitors, but numbers stood slightly below that level.
In general, use of tourism accommodations other than hotels increased by 7.2% during May in all of Spain when compared to the same month last year, surpassing 2019's record.
When it comes to prices, non-hotel accommodation has gotten more expensive compared to last year. Prices of apartments increased by 10.4%, while camp sites cost an average of 4.6% more.
