Hotel overnight stays in Catalonia up 2.5% in July on last year
July’s tally rose above 8 million for the first time

The number of overnight stays in Catalan hotels saw a 2.5% increase compared in July compared with 2018. The National Statistics Institution tallied a total of 8,151,022 overnight stays, of which nearly 6.1 million were from abroad and just over 2 million were Spanish citizens.
Catalonia accounts for 13.9% of hotel overnight stays by Spanish citizens, the third highest destination in Spain. For those visiting from abroad, it accounts for 21.5%.
Hotel occupancy rates in Catalonia were measured at 74%, just above the average across Spain of 71%.
Overnight stays in Spain rose 1.1% in July this year, up to 43.2 million in total.
