Discover Christmas traditions from around the world at Barcelona’s old Sant Pau hospital
Wonderland of festive lights returns to art nouveau site with new installations and interactive format
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Barcelona's old Sant Pau hospital, one of the iconic art nouveau sites of the Catalan capital.
For the fourth year in a row, the World Heritage site – a spectacular example of Catalan modernism – hosts The Lights of Sant Pau Christmas Garden (Els llums de Sant Pau, in Catalan).
From November 21 until January 12, visitors will enjoy the spectacle of festive lights in the unique surroundings of the complex designed by Lluis Domènech i Montaner.
The Sant Pau lights show has new installations this year and visitors will enjoy an interactive tour to discover Christmas traditions from different corners of the world.
Guests will also be able to document their magical journey through a Christmas passport, and ‘Llumi’, a star that has fallen down from the sky, will accompany visitors along the route as the guide.
Visitors can collect stamps in their passport and use them to enter a draw which will be made in December to win a ride in a hot air balloon.
With more than 20 light installations, the old modernist art nouveau hospital offers an impressive visual show and interactive experience, making for a unique Christmas celebration.
The previous editions of the Sant Pau Christmas Garden have attracted a total of 620,000 visitors.
Visits last around 90 minutes and tickets are available from €10 for children and €15 for adults.
