Christmas sparkle comes to Barcelona's Sant Pau
Winter makeover for art nouveau World Heritage site features ice rink and lights galore in Christmas garden
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Barcelona's Sant Pau art nouveau site.
For the third year in a row, the World Heritage site – a spectacular example of Catalan modernism – hosts The Lights of Sant Pau Christmas Garden (Els llums de Sant Pau in Catalan).
From November 21 until January 14, 2024, visitors have the chance to enjoy the spectacle of Christmas lights in the unique surroundings of the complex designed by Lluis Domènech i Montaner.
Organizers say there is "more magic than ever" this year, with more lights, as well as projections and sensorial tunnels.
New attractions include an indoor ice rink, a 16-meter-tall Christmas tree, and a food and drinks stall.
The Christmas tree alone has 50,000 lights, with a sound and light display every twenty minutes.
"Children will be amazed by our gift and adults will reconnect," the creative director of Proactiv, Héctor Sánchez, told the Catalan News Agency (ACN) on the opening night.
The Lights of Sant Pau will join forces with the Blood Bank to promote donation during Christmas. Specifically, blood donation marathons will be organized with free tickets to the venue for donors.
Tickets for the Christmas Garden are on sale ranging from €12 to €16 for adults, and €10 to €14 for children under 18. To skate on the ice rink, visitors have to pay an additional €5.
