Artist Quayola to create mapping show on Casa Batlló facade
Antoni Gaudí's iconic building will once again be the setting for a remarkable audiovisual spectacle that attracted 95,000 spectators last year
The façade of the iconic Casa Batlló will once again come alive with its annual mapping show, a highly anticipated event that has become a global highlight in the world of audiovisual art.
This year, the projection will be created by Italian visual artist Quayola, known for his innovative and immersive digital creations.
Quayola will present a spectacular projection titled 'Arborescent,' where nature, as in the work of architect Antoni Gaudí, is the source of inspiration.
"I am constantly exploring new connections with the heritage of our visual culture, and working with such an iconic symbol as Casa Batlló is very special. Immersing myself in Gaudí's work has reinforced the infinite power of nature as an inexhaustible source of artistic inspiration," the artist said.
The event is scheduled for February 1 and 2, 2025, and will take place every half hour from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm.
Over the past four years, the mapping show has established itself as one of the world's most remarkable audiovisual spectacles and one of the city's most anticipated activities.
The 2024 edition, created by Sofía Crespo, attracted over 95,000 visitors to Barcelona's Passeig de Gràcia to witness the spectacular display.
The initiative is part of the Heritage of Tomorrow artistic program, which aims to expand and reinterpret Gaudí's legacy.
