The 34th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion started on Monday at the old Sant Pau Modernista Hospital Complex.

The latest edition of the fashion show is paying special attention to the pushing the global reach of the event and sustainability.

The Minister of Business and Employment, Miquel Sàmper, commented that the "ability to reach the world" of the fashion show is "the result of creativity, innovation and talent retention."

At the same time, Sàmper highlighted the commitment to sustainability, as "environmental awareness" must also reach the world of fashion, according to the minister.

Some 20 runway shows featuring established and emerging designers are planned for the event, including Lebor Gabala, Escorpion, Lola Casademunt, Inma Linares, and Custo, among others.

The '080 Reborn' will also take place for the third time, highlighting sustainability in the fashion industry.

'080 Reborn' is a section of the fashion show where 100% second-hand pieces are shown off on the catwalk, created from textile waste sorting centers and shops.

Sàmper said the '080 Reborn' element of the event is a great example of the "three Rs of reduce, reuse, and recycle," and added that in this area "it is important and relevant to hold runway shows in which there are second-hand pieces," something that years ago was "thought to be impossible."
