Complaint filed for alleged attempted murder of ex-Angolan president in Catalonia
Eduardo dos Santos put in induced coma in Barcelona as daughter files complaint with Catalan police
The daughter of the former president of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, has filed a complaint with the Catalan police forces to investigate the alleged attempted murder against her father.
The former head of the African state has been admitted to the Teknon Clinic in Barcelona and has been in an induced coma for more than ten days.
His daughter, Tchizé dos Santos, had already denounced the alleged plot to end her father’s life in the newspaper La Vanguardia on Friday. Advised by lawyers, she has now filed a complaint with the Mossos d’Esquadra asking for the police to investigate the alleged commissioning of the killing of the former Angolan president.
She is also asking authorities to investigate whether there has been an omission of duty of care, reckless severe injury, or illegal disclosure of secrets.
Dos Santos, 79 years old and, according to the Barcelona newspaper, residing in the Catalan capital since 2019, ruled Angola from 1979 to 2017.
The family suspect that the doctor assigned to him by the African country has been gradually reduced his health to the point of coma, and they believe he now wants to unplug the former president from the life-support machines and end his life.
