Val d'Aran has been named as the Best Natural Destination in Spain.

This unique, remote corner of the Catalan Pyrenees was awarded the title by the readers of the 'Viajes National Geographic' magazine, highlighting the stunning natural beauty and unique tourism offerings of the region.

It acknowledges Val d'Aran's position as a leader in sustainable tourism and the continuous efforts to enhance services, drive innovation, and maintain high standards of excellence.

Juan Antonio Serrano, vice president of the Lleida regional tourism board, said the award "reinforces our commitment to a sustainable tourism model that helps make Lleida the best place to live."

Serrano winning the vote was "a clear demonstration of the unique charm of Val d'Aran and the work of the tourism sector to preserve it and make it widely known.

The Síndica (leader) of Aran's regional government, Maria Vergés, said the distinction "certifies the job well done, the dedication, and the consistency of all those who, in different sectors, offer visitors unique experiences they can enjoy in Val d'Aran."

Situated on the northern side of the Pyrenees, surrounded by high mountain peaks, the beautiful Aran valley's geographic isolation has helped foster and protect its distinct culture, including the Aranese language, a dialect of Occitan.

It was named a Biosphere destination by UNESCO in July 2024.
