Urban artworks related to Catalan seaside town nominated for World's Best Murals
Three creations linked to Ametlla de Mar are among the 50 selected by Street Art cities
Three murals related to the seaside town of Ametlla de Mar named 'Reina del Mar,' 'Under the sea,' and 'The Messenger' have been selected among the 50 best murals worldwide in 2024 by the renowned platform Street Art Cities.
'Reina del Mar' and 'Under the sea' are part of an exhibition held during Efímurs festival, an urban art festival in the municipality north of Barcelona.
The artwork 'Reina del Mar,' by the Brasilian artist Filite was directly selected as the best mural in the world.
It represents the deity Yemoja, the protector of fishermen and is a symbol of the energy of the moon and the sea. It also connects with the patron saint of Ametlla de Mar, the mother of Candles.
'Under the Sea' by Asem and Manz is a modern representation of the Little Mermaid while 'The Messenger' by Uri KHTR is inspired by the god Hermes.
Uri KHTR's work representing "the message of life and nature" has been noticed for its originality.
These pieces have been nominated and everyone can vote online until January 31.
