Spanish culture ministry to acquire Casa Gomis and transform it into cultural centre
Executive to pay €7.2 million for private home located near La Ricarda lagoon and Barcelona airport
The Spanish culture department will acquire Casa Gomis for €7.2 million and turn it into a cultural centre.
Casa Gomis is a house noted for its rationalist architectural style located in the heart of the Llobregat delta, right by the La Ricarda lagoon and close to Barcelona airport.
It was built in the 1950s by the renowned architect Antoni Bonet i Castellana, in close collaboration with its owners, Inés Bertrand Mata and Ricardo Gomis Serdañons.
The house follows the principles of rationalist architecture and has been declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest since 2021.
Ricardo Gomis was a founding member of Discòfils Associació Pro Música (1935) and a member of CLUB49, a collective of avant-garde artists from Barcelona.
Casa Gomis was a refuge for many international artists visiting Barcelona, quickly becoming a place of exchange and experimentation in the 20th century.
