Sharon Stone to narrate Rufus Wainwright's Dream Requiem in Palau de la Música
Concert on January 25 to feature Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and soprano Anna Prohaska conducted by Ludovic Morlot
She is considered a legend in Hollywood and all around the world for playing femme fatales and women of mystery in both TV series and movies. Sharon Stone will now be part of Canadian-American songwriter Rufus Wainwright's 'Dream Requiem' concert in Barcelona.
Hundreds will enjoy Stone's narration of the performance, which will see its Spain premiere on January 25 at the Palau de la Música concert hall.
The actress will narrate the 80-minute length composition by Wainwright, who believes having Stone is "a dream come true."
Especially "for the concert to take place in Barcelona, one of the cities in which I have best been welcomed as a musician, and at the Palau de la Música Catalana, which is one of the most beautiful and impressive music halls around the world, where I recently played, is the cherry on top of the cake," he said in a statement.
'Dream Requiem' will also feature the children's choir of the Catalan Orfeó and the Austrian-British soprano Anna Prohaska. French Ludovic Morlot will conduct the concert and will also see the Barcelona Symphonic Orchestra (OBC).
Wainwright's composition premiered at France's Radio France Auditorium in Paris on June 14 with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and many others including actress Meryl Streep as the narrator.
"Sharon and I have been acquainted for a long time," Wainwright said.
"As expected, I was her fan even before she knew my music. Is one of the most fascinating, brilliant, intelligent, and inspiring women I know," he added before explaining that he had wanted for Stone to "work with her, and for her to take the narrator role, and voice British Lord Byron's poem Darkness about the complete environmental collapse with her strong and moving voice, is a dream come true."
In the future, Wainwright's Dream Requiem will be performed at Los Angeles's Walt Disney Concert Hall, with Jane Fonda as the narrator, and at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw Hall.
The composition has been commissioned by several international music halls, including Barcelona's Palau de la Música Catalana and L'Auditori, as well as the Orchestre Philharmonique Radio France, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, London's Royal Opera House, and RTÉ National Orchestra of Ireland, to say a few.
