“Salvador Dalí sings”: magical performance prepared to celebrate Acústica Festival tenth anniversary

Famous poems and quotes from the Catalan painter will be coupled with songs in two exceptional concerts in Dalí’s hometown Figueres. Twelve groups will perform in the celebration of the artist, including Manel, Love of Lesbian, Antònia Font or Lax’n’Busto. The show will commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Acústiva Festival

Figueres (ACN).- The words of Salvador Dalí will for the first time in history be coupled with modern music. The Acústiva Festival in Figueres (northern-Catalonia) is preparing a magical performance to celebrate its tenth anniversary. The show is dedicated to the artist, who was born in the same town as the festival, and includes the participation of 12 artists who will either recite or sing poems and famous quotes from Dalí.


The event will be take place in an open-air auditorium specially designed for the occasion just outside Dalí’s Museum on September 1st and 2nd. A wide selection of well known artists such as Antònia Font, Russian Red, Manel or Lax’n’Busto will perform. The musicians come from the Catalan, Spanish and international arena, and perform in a wide array of styles, including pop or flamenco. The show will include a performance by world renowned dancer Sol Picó. She will prepare a special choreographed piece to express Dalí’s thoughts through dance. The music will be created and interpreted by the surrealist composer Pascal Comelade and his children’s instrumental orchestra. Writer and Musical Journalist Pep Blay and Acústia’s Director Xavi Pasual will be in charge of the artistic direction of the event, which will also count on the advice of the Center of Dalí Studies. The chosen artists to perform in the Dalí’s nights are Estrella Morente, Ana Torroja, Amaral, Martirio, Kiko Veneno, Love of Lesbian, Albert Pla, Gerard Quintana, Dolo Beltrán and Pau Riba. The festival will run from August 31st to September 4th.
