Primavera Sound has canceled its four festivals planned in South America for 2024.

The festivals had been scheduled for the end of November and the beginning of December in Buenos Aires, São Paolo, Montevideo, and Asunción.

Catalonia's biggest music festival attracts thousands of fans from all over the world to Barcelona every year, and branched out to hosting successful festivals in Latin American cities in 2022 and 2023.

In a statement, organizers regretted that the festivals "will have to wait" due to "external difficulties that prevent us from organizing events at the level that the public who have supported us so much deserves."

Alfonso Lanza, director of Primavera Sound, is quoted in the press release as saying it was a "difficult" decision to make after "many months of work" and after making various attempts at holding the concerts.

"Now that we have exhausted all of the possibilities, we must be prudent and focus all our energy on future plans,” he adds.

The festival affirms that their "work does not end here, nor do our ties with Latin America," and instead Primavera Sound want to return to the continent "as soon as possible."

As for tickets already sold, Primavera Sound says that the sales platform will contact buyers to explain all details of the return process.
