Porta Ferrada Festival announces full line-up for its 62nd edition
Gene Simons from KISS, Two Door Cinema Club and Gregory Porter to perform at summer music festival
The Porta Ferrada Festival has its sights set on becoming the music festival of the summer with their “biggest international line-up to date” for its 62nd edition. From July 5 until August 20 there will be 13 international artists giving concerts at the Sant Feliu de Guíxols site, on the Costa Brava.
Among the international artists coming to Porta Ferrada this summer is Gene Simons, the lead singer of iconic 70s rock band KISS will perform on August 13. “It will be an unique performance. Simmons keeps his band in parallel to KISS’s career and won’t swerve from that lane,” says Albert Mallol, the creative director of Porta Ferrada Festival.
Different genres
Alternative music will be provided by Northern Irish band Two Door Cinema Club, whom the festival has been trying to book for many years, according to Mallol. They will grace the stage on August 17.
Swedish singer-songwriter José Gonzaléz will be providing indie-folk music to the Guíxols Arena on August 19.
On another note, there will be an evening dedicated to the 80s, with a collaborative performance by the groups Seguridad Social and La Guardia.
There are also some novelties like Voices of Jazz, a jazz cycle led by Gregory Porter on July 13 at Espai Port.
Andrea Motis will also perform at the same venue on July 19 to present her latest album. The Catalan singer will bring 20 musicians on stage who are also part of her upcoming ‘Febrero’ tour.
Voices of Jazz will be closed by the American singer Madeleine Peyroux on July 20.
30% Catalan line-up
As well as all the international names in the lineup, many Catalan artists can also be found.
30% of the full line-up releases music in Catalan. Examples are the double concerts between Mushka and Figa Flawas, as well as the previously announced concert of Guillem Gilbert and the Ludwig Band.
Tickets for the Porta Ferrada Festival go on sale on March 27 at noon.
